What it proves

That the outcome of a specific round was fixed before the round was played, and was not altered afterwards in response to the bet. The mechanism is a pair of seeds — one from the operator, committed in advance as a hash, one from the player — combined to produce the result. Because the operator's seed was committed before the player's was known, it could not have been chosen to produce a particular outcome.

That is a real guarantee and it is narrower than most people assume.

What it does not prove

• It says nothing about the house edge. A provably fair game with a large edge is provably fair and expensive.
• It says nothing about the rest of the site: the cashier, the withdrawal clause and the bonus terms are unaffected.
• It does not apply to third-party slots, which are certified by the supplier rather than verified by the player.

How to actually verify a round

1. Find the seed pair for the roundBoth seeds appear in the game's history once the server seed has been rotated and revealed.
2. Check the commitmentHash the revealed server seed and compare it with the hash published before play. A mismatch is the finding that matters.
3. Recompute the resultCombine the seeds with the round number using the published algorithm and compare with what the game showed.
4. Rotate your own seedRotating the client seed periodically is what keeps the guarantee meaningful over a session rather than for a single round.
